Apr 5 2024: India’s stock market witnessed a mixed performance at the close of trading on Friday. The Nifty 50 index experienced a marginal decline of 0.05%, reaching a new all-time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index edged up by 0.03%.
Among the top gainers on the Nifty 50 were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (up 1.99%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (up 1.48%), and HDFC Bank Ltd (up 1.47%). Conversely, notable decliners included Grasim Industries Ltd (down 1.93%), UltraTech Cement Ltd (down 1.75%), and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (down 1.42%).
On the BSE Sensex 30, leading gainers included Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (up 1.92%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd (up 1.56%), and HDFC Bank Ltd (up 1.41%). Meanwhile, major losers comprised UltraTech Cement Ltd (down 1.69%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd (down 1.46%), and Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 1.45%).
Overall, the market saw more rising stocks than declining ones on both the India National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery saw a slight increase, while both Crude oil and Brent oil contracts experienced modest gains.
The currency market showed a slight dip in the USD/INR pair, along with a minor decline in the EUR/INR pair. The US Dollar Index Futures recorded a marginal increase.
