Apr 1 2024: On Monday, Germany stocks closed with mixed results, with the Food & Beverages, Media, and Consumer & Cyclical sectors contributing to gains while the Construction, Transportation & Logistics, and Software sectors experienced losses.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX reached a new all-time high, rising by 0.15%. Conversely, the MDAX index fell by 0.07%, and the TecDAX index saw a slight gain of 0.02%.
Among the top performers on the DAX were Siemens Energy AG, which rose by 3.03%, Merck KGaA, up by 2.12%, and Rheinmetall AG, gaining 1.84%. On the downside, Deutsche Post AG NA O.N., Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred, and Brenntag AG were among the worst performers.
In the MDAX, Aixtron SE, Redcare Pharmacy NV, and Puma SE were the top gainers, while SMA Solar Technology AG, Wacker Chemie O.N., and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG faced losses.
In the TecDAX, Cancom SE O.N., Aixtron SE, and Bechtle AG performed well, while Energiekontor AG, Kontron AG, and SMA Solar Technology AG struggled.
Rheinmetall AG reached all-time highs during the session, and Redcare Pharmacy NV saw 52-week highs.
The DAX volatility index rose by 3.71% to 12.77, indicating increased implied volatility in DAX options.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery rose by 0.97%, while Crude oil for delivery in May and June Brent oil contracts also saw gains.
In forex markets, EUR/USD was down, while EUR/GBP remained unchanged. The US Dollar Index Futures showed an increase of 0.49%.
