Dec 31 2024: China will revise the weightings in its yuan CFETS basket in 2025, the China Foreign Exchange Trade System (CFETS) announced on Tuesday.
Starting January 1, the U.S. dollar’s weighting will decrease to 18.903% from 19.46%, the euro’s weighting will drop to 17.902% from 18.08%, and the yen’s weighting will decline to 8.584% from 8.963%. These adjustments were detailed in an online statement from CFETS, which operates under the supervision of the central bank.
Additionally, Macau’s pataca will be included in the basket, increasing the total number of currencies in the CFETS basket to 25 for the upcoming year.
